Care management needs of family caregivers at different stages of dementia

Background In Taiwan, more than 90% of persons with dementia who live at home are cared for by family caregivers. According to previous researches, caregivers have a higher level burden almost all other diseases old age. addition, due the different courses in each stage, coupled complexity its problems, stages care demands. Therefore, this study aimed explore management needs caring stages. Method A cross-sectional was conducted. Of 250 were included. The Care Management Needs Scale (CMNS) used measure caregivers, which is divided into six dimensions (care service, psychological support, immediate information, anticipated referral and tracking long-term resources, individual case service). severity determined neurologist using Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR) scale. Result From very mild severe dementia, dimension highest stage respectively. overall needs, service support moderate significantly dementia. item, three related information dementia; began appear needs. Conclusion concluded that When (CDR = 2.0), need services will begin increase. findings suggest should be provided This study’s results provide knowledge base designing stage-specific clinical practice developing community-based, systems
